Dermalogica BioSurface Peel

A few weeks ago I attended the press launch of the BioSurface Peel at the Dermalogica Head Office. Sonette, the Comunications Manager from Dermalogica who is also an expert on peels, gave us a very informative and educating talk on the new peel. A chemical peel is different to normal exfoliation in that it has much deeper penetration, you will get visible peeling, stimulation of the skin cells in much deeper layers of the skin and a short treatment time. In short, a chemical peel is a much more aggressive way of treating the skin, the results are also longer lasting.

Dermalogica currently has 3 levels of exfoliation, with the BioSurface Peel being the 4th
•1st Level: Skin Prep Scrub | Daily Microfoliant | Daily Resurfacer | MultiVitamin Thermofoliant (these are your exfoliators you use at home)
•2nd Level: Skin Exfoliation System
•3rd Level: MultiVitamin Power Exfoliation | Exfoliant Accelerator 35 (Professional treatments only)

Taken from the Press Release:

“Professional skin care therapists now have a new level of service to offer clients in the form of BioSurface™ Peel, Dermalogica’s first-ever chemical peel, exclusively formulated for use in skin care centres and spas around the world.

This revolutionary four-step exfoliant system is the first range of products to be introduced within Professional Expert Strength, a new line of professional products only available to licensed skin care therapists. BioSurface™ Peel addresses a diverse array of conditions that include reducing skin roughness and the appearance of fine lines as well as helping to treat hyperpigmentation, pseudofolliculitis (razor bumps), and acneic inflammation. This new procedure offers the many benefits of traditional chemical peels, but with little to no post-peel redness or downtime—a huge advantage for consumers.

“Today’s woman is time-deprived, but still cares greatly about her skin health and wants results,” comments Diana Howard, VP of Research and Development and Global Education for Dermalogica and The International Dermal Institute. “Since Dermalogica launched more than 25 years ago, its mission has always been to set the industry standard and provide its tribe of professional skin care therapists with the most cutting edge products and treatments so they are best equipped to meet the demands of today’s consumers. The new BioSurface™ Peel will provide consumers with the results they desire without any recovery downtime.”

A peel with no downtime or post peel redness, is that not fantastic?

How can your skin benefit from a peel or a course of peels?
• Dramatically reduces skin roughness
• Minimise fine lines
•Reduce acne breakouts
•Fade epidermal pigmentation (pigmentation in the epidermis/first layer of the skin)

Please note that pre and post peel care is very important. If you are not currently a Dermalogica user I suggest you visit a Dermalogica Skin Care Centre and ask them to prescribe the best products to prime your skin. Post peel your therapist will advise homecare depending on what concern you are addressing. Sun protection is vital after a peel.

I am going for a peel next week and will write another post guiding through the process and what each step is all about.

In connection with the Bio Surface Peel, Dermalogica have launched the #getnaked campaign – because “great skin has nothing to hide”. Such a great campaign as we all know how much we try to hide our skin when we feel it is less than perfect.
